And here are three words I know nothing about! No, I’m only joking but for those of you who don’t know what these words mean, I’ll break it down for you:
Hyper reality: An image or stimulation, or an aggregate of images and stimulation that either distorts the reality it purports to depict or does not in fact depict anything with a real existence at all, but which nonetheless comes to constitute reality. – Basically in dumb words, it is a representation of something real or not.
Stimulation: Simulation is the process of simulating something or the result of simulating it. – I’m not too sure how to dumb this down….
Spectacle: A visually striking performance or display – In our lecture, Ted stated three main points about the society of the spectacle; (here’s the link to Ted’s prezi as well)
- Life is presented as an immense accumulation of spectacles. Everything that was directly lived is now merely represented in the distance
- When the real world is transformed into mere images, mere images becomes real beings – dynamic figments that provide the direct motivations for a hypnotic behaviour
- The detached from every aspect of life merge into a common stream in which the unity life, can no longer be recovered. Fragmented views of reality regroup themselves into a new unity as a separate pseudoworld that can only be looked at.

HOW INTERESTING IS THAT WOW!!!
Have you ever heard the term ‘DEEP FAKES’, well if you haven’t then get prepared to get scared! Here’s what it is: It is a type of technology (AI) which allows users to produce or alter a certain video (i.e someones face, the words they say, movements etc) so that it showcases something that it never did before. – Basically this shit can happen to anyone!!!! Here’s a link to a video that made me stress. wow

First of all great memes! It made reading this blog post extremely interesting and funny I really enjoy that you put your own personal touch on the subject at hand! I would have loved it if you would have gone into the realm of the hyper-reality, Simulation and spectacle a bit more so the audience can a deeper analysis of the concepts! If you would like to learn more about deep fakes in a great way I definitely recommend looking at these videos!
Overall I really enjoyed your blog post and can’t wait to read another one soon!

Another great blog post charlotte!! You’re post really helped me understand the concept of hyperreality, stimulation and spectacle. Loved the memes you used… especially the Chris Pratt one…. and I love how you stated individual definitions for each concept, making it easier for everyone to understand.
