Goodbye Project Five

My Digital Artefact is a Youtube Channel created by five 18-19 year old girls within the same degree; Ava Di Donato, Caitlin Koloski, Isabella Mallon, Charlotte Pierro and Ruby losinno.

Our channel was crated because we wanted to not only improve our own happiness but to also improve others as well. Youtube, is a very easy platform to use and to create a fanbase on, which was why we decided to create our channel on that particular platform.

Heres a little run down of what our Digital Artefact is (this is copied from my first BCM114 blogpost); For our Digital Artefact, is called Project Five  and is a Youtube Channel which is composed of different ‘challenges’ that we as a group will try together, to improve our happiness. Our background reasoning came from a particular book called ‘The Happiness project’ by Gretchen Rubin. Each video, is filmed after one whole week of challenging our selves to each activity such as waking up at 5:00am everyday, and each video will end by the five of us coming together and explaining our experiences.

The five of us decided that our videos will mainly be in ‘vlog’ form, and that we will film ourselves individually for one whole. Week and then by the end of that week we come together and explain our experiences and if our level of happiness went up higher or lower.

For the very first week, we completed ‘No complaining for a whole week’,which I found very difficult. We decided on this particular activity by posting a poll on twitter with several different options.

Once the activity was chosen we were then able to film our individual vlogs. Due to this video being our first, were all very excited and were wanting too create more. This video has the most views due to each member advertising it on their own separate social media’s.

My role within Project Five was editing each video, I have a passion for editing which made me very involved within the Digital Artefact, however, I did lose a lot of interesting within the editing aspect due to each member wanting different edits and so on.

The second and most viewed video within our channel is ‘Waking up at 5am everyday for a whole week’. Our group did not do this challenge properly as we either forgot or was not bothered to wake up! Which set back our filming and editing.

After the third week some of the members had given up, we were given several suggestions form other followers, However we did not follow them through.

Towards the end of the semester, we had all lost motivation to continue with Project Five and well, we failed at trying to create more content.

And there you have it! That’s Project Five! I now understand the struggles of working within a group and I have found that I work best alone when it comes to editing and thinking of content. Project Five, was an amazing experience, however, next semester I will be doing my own individual digital artefact.
